I do remember Norman Rockwell. He was America's artist. These are all such good examples of what he did. The first photo is interesting. Is there a museum somewhere? I would think there would be but I just never thought about it before. That would be an interesting exhibit to see.
Happy birthday Mr. Rockwell. He is one of my all-time favorites, which I have said before on my blog. Did I ever tell you that I wrote to him in the 70's and received a reply? Thank you for your tribute to him. Doesn't that secretary in the last painting look straight out of Mad Men??
I just read an article somewhere about him and how he staged his paintings. It was so interesting. I have a Rockwell Society plate that belonged to Mom, as well as a Rockwell Stein I picked up somewhere. He was considered to be kitchsy for a long time but I think people are rediscovering him and his incredible talent.
Atomic Playhouse here. Thanks for commenting back in October that you'd like to be our neighbour! You live in California!!! We'd like to be YOURS! But let's make it Palm Springs, okay? We had our Honeymoon there ('03) and then went again in '07. And as for Mr. Rockwell, well, the famous one with the dad slumped down in the Womb Chair while wife and kiddies go to church is our favourite.
We're going to add your blog to our blogroll, btw. Cheers from Toronto, Canada.
Nice pics! Norman Rockwell was such a talented artist. We had a chance to visit his museum a few years back in Stockbridge, MA. To save money, we skipped the tour so we could spend more money in the gift shop! Thanks for posting! Lisa
That Display in the First Picture is an excellent exhibit at the National Scouting Headquarters in Dallas Texas! I love how Rockwell captures the "American Spirit" In his Boy Scout paintings and the countless Saturday Evening Post covers. His Painting is So wonderful I honestly thought it was photography at first!

My grandmother had Normal Rockwell prints ALL OVER her home. Reading this post brought back a lot of memories of her home.
