And how funny, yes, I just made a post about starburst clocks too!
Why, WHY do these have to be so expensive on places like eBay? I have yet to figure that out. I mean, you can only buy so many starburst clocks for your mid-century home, right? So why do so many people buy these?
However, they are one of those quintessential retro 1950's items you simply must have at least one of for your mid-century home. =)
I shopped for over a year to get the two I wanted. Sigh.
I love the first and last ones! I do find it amusing that they're so incredibly expensive today, when they were a dime a dozen back then. I think one person has them all and is selling them one by one at exorbitant prices!! __ Barbara http://ifididnthaveasenseofhumor.blogspot.com
I thought I had seen them all but the second one is a new one to me, I love it!
I can say that in my antique business, they are one of the easiest things to sell, just because everyone wants one. Partly because they're cool, partly because the decorating magazines have made them a thing, even for people who aren't doing mid century design, the prices have gone up accordingly. And, there's the odd guys like me who collect them to cover a whole wall that have dozens of them.....
Good luck! There are so many awesome designs. I spent quite a long time finding just the right one. I lucked out and found a great one for a pretty good price on ebay. Not long after I found another fabulous one for just $5 at an estate sale!
I own eight (so far) all on one wall. And none are exactly like the ones above, most of which I love! I have never actually paid more that $25 for any of mine but I have noticed their prices steadily rising since I started collecting them 10 years ago. I hope you find the one you're looking for!
I like the second one best!
ReplyDeleteMy fav is the 4th clock but they are all awesome, now just to find one!!! Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteLove these!
