Midcentury Marvels

I subscribed to Atomic Ranch magazine recently and received my first copy yesterday. If you love midcentury modern, you'll love this magazine. I'm going to buy all the available back issues. The articles and pictures are great but I love the advertisements as well. I wish it were a monthly magazine instead of quarterly however. I can't wait for the next issue!

"Atomic Ranch celebrates midcentury houses—from 1940s ranch tracts to 1960s architect-designed modernist homes. With an emphasis on affordable solutions and homeowner renovations, our quarterly magazine shows you how to make your house cool, both inside and out." Atomic Ranch Magazine

  1. Whoo hoo! Let us know if it's worth it!

I've seen back issues of those sell for a pretty penny on eBay. Do they offer back issues through the magazine?

I should find out what a subscription costs, because I bet they are full of amazing photos!

And, I suspect, it also drives a lot of the trends in mid-century buying, like starburst clocks and bullet planters. =)

  2. I've been getting that mag since it started and it's completely worth it! All my issues are gold to me and they look great on my hey-wake coffee table too!

  5. You know what, girl?? We have got some eerie thing going on between us - with the thrift shop things that you buy after I see them, think about them, and decide I want them and go back and they're gone deal, and the Scarlett's Web estate sale striped lamp, etc, etc, - and now THIS! I saw my first copy of this magazine EVER at Raley's in Jackson last week, bought it, brought it home, DEVOURED it, (hadn't previously even known of it's existence!) wondered if you knew about it - planned to show it to you next time I saw you!
And now I see this post! Can't wait to see other copies if you are going to get them all!
I want to subscribe, too - but maybe I will just read yours!
This is getting really weird....don't you think???

  6. I guess I'm going to have to subscribe because whenever I look for it at Barnes & Noble they always tell me it sells out. Which is another reason why mid-century furniture, when it becomes available, flies out the door at estate sales around these here parts. It's a great magazine--mine are covered with drool, ha ha.

  7. I bought a copy of it about a year ago at Barnes and Nobel, I too devoured it. Its in my magazine rack with my Ready Made mags. I love those too but would rather spend my precious pennies at the yard sales than buy mag. subscriptions. Until I can sucker someone else into getting ma a gift subscription, I have all of you guys to supply all of the eye candy I'll ever need!

  11. I love your blog. I'm getting so much from it. There's not much like this in Australia.

I'm going to look for Atomic Ranch now. I like you.
