Marvelous Motorolas
In a stunning glass house, perched high on a cliff somewhere in the tropics, they dance to the rhythm of the bossa nova from their lovely Motorola.
On the California coast, Carmel by the Sea perhaps, this lovestruck couple gaze into each others eyes while their Motorola sends out the sweet sounds of Latin jazz.
And look what Santa left these two happy children on Christmas Day. Guess it was too big to come down the chimney. Look Jane, look Dick, look, look, look! Its a Motorola! Over there! Forget those books, we've got music!
And here once again is my beautiful Motorola. Just like the ones in these fabulous 60's ads.
Well what can I say about this ad....Is that a Motorola in your pocket or are you just happy to see me?

I know you've seen the Coronet before too, but I couldn't leave her out. She was our first console .
Love those advertisements.
ReplyDeleteMy grandma had a similar 'sound system'. Don't think it was a motorola though. I remember telling her I wanted it as a child. Recently she's had to move into a home and I'm a long way away so I've no idea where it's gone. :(
So let's get together for a cocktail and some fondue and take some of those LP's for a spin, shall we?
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad Moondoggie. Maybe you can find a similar one on craigslist. Heidi Ann, sounds like a plan. I've been dying to make some fondue and have a cocktail with you..woohoo!
ReplyDeleteThose ads are FANTASTIC!! You're so lucky to have that old stereo. My grandparents had one, but they died when I was but a child and my brothers absconded with their things. God knows what happened to them in the ensuing years.
ReplyDeleteSlip on some Dean and sway thru your living room for me, will ya sometime?
I'll do that Barbara. Thanks for stopping by and happy holidays to you.
ReplyDeleteOh well, those houses probably slid into the Pacific Ocean along with the fabulous Motorolas . . . but you have yours and it is just to die for! But along with the fondue you've GOT to have Swedish meatballs in a nice gooey sauce, mini pigs-in-a-blanket AND cheese cubes with a festive toothpick stuck in every single one. Now THAT's a cocktail party! PS--I'm lovin' the new blog look, particularly the green.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's fantastic! I love the cameo appearance by Dean Martin at the end of the post! :D
ReplyDeleteThanks Christine and Richard. Christine, don't forget it has to be Velveeta cheese, none of that fancy French stuff. Richard, yes Dean always has to make an appearance at my cocktail parties. I don't mind. He makes a fabulous Martin-e.
ReplyDeleteWow, I've never seen anything like those ads, they are amazing! And I love the console, it reminds me of my parents' 60s stereo. Just lovely.
ReplyDeleteIsn't the artwork fantastic? I wish I knew who the artist was. Wouldn't it be wonderful to have a print or an original of these beautiful paintings?
ReplyDeleteI know now. It's Charles Schridde.
