LOVING OUR CANNED HAMS

My husband and I are the proud owners of two vintage travel trailers. One is a 60 something Aloha and the other a 70 something Scamp.

This is the Aloha. It sleeps 4 so this is the trailer of choice when our son(s) travel with us.

Gourmet kitchen. Don't you love the pink oven/stove combo?

Master Suite.

Here is the Scamp. We often refer to it as our retirement home.

Master suite scamp.

Great Room.

We love them both. They are a step up from camping as we actually have a very comfortable bed to sleep in, however, they are without privies. We don't care. A trek to the toilette in the brisk winter air wakes one up quicker than a good strong cup of Joe. They both have stoves and heaters that come in very handy when camping in inclement weather. Since becoming owners of these two lovely traveling homes, I love to peruse the internet in search of other vintage trailers. There are some real beauties out there.

I also discovered the very talented artist, Paige Bridges, whose beautiful artwork can be found at vintagetrailertrailerart.com. I love these paintings so much I just want to crawl right into them. Someday our little trailers may look as beautiful as these and we'll have a circle of travel trailer pals to tour with.

  1. Oh my,those are so sweet! It must make you happy to camp in them. I think the scamp would make a perfect "mama cave" for me... ;)

  4. Thanks Mick. Maybe we'll hook up the Aloha and head east sometime. How fun would it be to go to the drive-in in a travel trailer? Can I pick the movie? Too bad about the Scotty. Scotty's are so cute. you'll find one. Just keep looking.

  5. We bought a huge new trailer for my mother to live in two years ago and then she promptly stated she wanted to be in the house, so now we're stuck with this behemoth and all I want is a little Scamp for me and the hubs and the pups--I'm going to show him these pix and maybe he'll start to "think about it". Wow--what fun for everyone to meet up at Mick's, huh?!!

  6. Hey, I think you're on to something. We could circle the wagons and sit around the campfire telling tall thrift store tails. Sounds like my kind of fun.

  7. My wife and I love camping in our more modern pop up trailer. But we have always loved the older classic trailers like yours. Someday we hope to upgrade to something like your Aloha.

  9. My dream is to own a little aqua & white Scotty. One of the reasons I bought my little SUV was so I could by the Scotty and drag it back & forth to Virginia when I visit my children's families.

  10. My lovely wife and I LOVE the vintage trailers... we have two, both 1956 editions. One is the 15' Aloha (aluminum skin, & ready to hit the road) and an 22' Airstream Safari (currently mid-way through restoration). We'll be selling the Aloha soon to help finance the Airstream that we've always referred to as our "Retirement Home!" Funny.

  11. oddly, I just ran across your blog while doing some mid century modern searches and saw this Aloha post. I'm not sure if you have seen my Aloha blog http://alohatravelltrailer.blogspot.com/

But we are working on combining our love of mid century design with our Aloha soon!
