The Days of Wine and Vinyl

To celebrate our anniversary
the mister and I took an overnight trip
to the beautiful town of Volcano.
We've dubbed our brief sojourn
"The Days of Wine & Vinyl."

Before you get really carried away with
images involving two midcenturians,
wine and (did she say vinyl?)
read on.

On our way home we stopped at
one of our favorite thrift stores
and struck vinyl gold!
We left with over forty albums.
They were 25 cents apiece!
The Days of Wine and Vinyl (pictured above)
was part of the record booty.

Cat was there.
Aretha too.
A little samba for the soul.
Well hello James!
Would I lie to you?
Nope, Annie came too.
This was hiding in the middle of the pile.
It is a test pressing from 1965
of a Dizzy Gillespie album.
(actually two albums)
It is signed by someone.
Do you think it may be Dizzy's
John Hancock?
Photos are taped to the front
and everything on
the cover is hand written.
The records are in perfect condition.
Wow!

I'll tell you all about the rest of the trip later.
It was epic!

  3. That pic of The Days of Wine & Vinyl is priceless. I love how the wine is still making it into his mouth even after the collapse! To much wine maybe? Very nice. If you do some research on the Dizzy Record let us know the results. Very Cool!

  6. Nice, yes, but the important question is: did you get any Steve & Edie????? That test pressing is awesome and that really does look like it could be Dizzy's sig. Cool, man.

  8. Am bouncing along from vintage blog to vintage blog, having a wonderful time seeing the many different things people collect and hearing about the treasure hunts. Love the blast from the past (have the Cat and JT in my collection of hundreds of LPs somewhere in our basement).
