One Tiny Step Forward

We have a nightly ritual.
Sometimes it inolves dinner,
sometimes a glass of wine,
but always includes discussion...

on how to turn this...

into this.
We've met with several contractors,
and architects...
They didn't quite get the MCM thing....until today!

Today we found someone who understands us,
and what we want.
And he didn't laugh when we told him what our budget is.
He even knows who Alvar Aalto is.
That's one tiny step forward.

  1. That's my kind of architect; one who understands the concept of the Case Study House.

I hope this happens for you, because this is what I want to do one day ... but until then, I'll have to live vicariously through you.

    Fingers crossed!

  3. I'll be eagerly keeping up with your progress. I can understand your difficulty finding someone who "gets it." Fort Worth, Texas...where I live...is definitely no mecca for MCM lovers. :)

  4. Ohmigosh! I'm so excited for you & to watch this all happen.

It's a very good thing you all live in California, because here in NY, outdoor living season is just about over :(

  6. Is the little trailer on the right an Airstream? I recently saw the coolest MCM home for sale in Austin, TX. They had put a wonderful old Airstream in the back yard to use as a guest house and were selling it as part of the property.
