Out With the Old, In With the Older

I just can't seem to leave well enough alone. Maybe I need to stop my frequent visits to the Salvation Army. On one recent visit I spotted this hutch. Did I need it? Of course not. Did I want it? Yes I did. I'm still not sure if I like it "as is". It has an odd finish on it that I probably wouldn't be able to duplicate but I don't want to paint it. What do you think? Oh yes, I almost forgot to mention my starburst clock. An ebay find....not exactly what I want as I prefer the ones that have wooden starbursts and more of a Scandinavian design but this one was within my price range. And I do like it!

The other hutch has moved to the deck and is the new home for my herb garden.
(A very convenient location right off the kitchen.)
I plan on making lots of salsa and pesto this summer,
my two favorite summertime treats.

  1. I'd leave the finish alone. Love the white hutch on your deck. Sounds like you may need to put an addition on your house if you keep finding all these great deals!

  8. Oh Man, I wanna send you a lil' carafe that I found a while back. It would look great in the cabinet with your others. I like the new one in the kitchen and the placement of the white one on the porch. I think the style of the new one is great!

  10. I like the cabinet a lot, and agree that I'd leave the finish like it is, I like the distressed look. And while I like the wooden starburst clocks too, I really love the metal atomic ones like this one! (I found another starburst clock at an estate sale yesterday, I'll try to get it posted in the next couple of days.

  11. OK--I think some PETA person sabotaged my blog after the dead bunny post. I can't see ANY images! So I'm commenting but I have no idea what I'm commenting on. They're beautiful! I think!

SECURITY WORD: fohea. Is that "to go" or "fo hea"?

  12. Oh, I love the idea of an outside hutch! Sadly, I'm not sure that the idea would do well here in Seattle. :-)
