Accidental Auction

Here are a few Saturday morning finds from several rummage sales around town. Many items were under a dollar. I loved the ladies at the Aronas Research Womens Club. (not sure what they research) Everything I asked about the reply was "How about a dollar?"

One can never have too many gravy boats.

Set of four small plates. No name on the back.

Elite Narumi (Tango pattern) 1 dinner plate, 4 salad plates, 4 saucers.

Hull coffee mugs. Set of six and a "breakfast in bed" tray in a snappy pattern.

Flamingo glasses (plastic). Lemonade anyone? Alright then, how about a Margarita?

Stainless hor' dourve tray.

Hot dogs, beans and potato salad trays...and an ice cold beverage.

Paris in the springtime. (fabric)

This wasn't today's find but I didn't get around to posting it earlier. Glass tray with teak handles.

I love this little single serving teapot. I may have to start drinking tea.

Mad Men desk lamp and princess phone. Lovely in blue!

The VW camper bus was in one of the desk drawers. It came along for the ride. Freckles the cat likes it.

20 in 1 dice games in beautiful wooden carrying case. Great for the Aloha trailer.

Vintage TravelBar by Ever Wear in leather carrying case. You never know when you might need one.

This cool 1960's desk from Baumritter was at the Sonora High Scholarship fund sale. Only $10.00.

We accidentally stumbled upon this auction that was being held at the Sonora Opera Hall. The minute I walked in they started auctioning this desk. I heard the words Modern Danish and my ears immediately perked up. We didn't even have a number yet. I was pretty clueless because we have never been to an auction. He started the bidding at $100.00, no takers and I'm still waiting for my husband to return with a number. "Do I hear fifty?" No takers. "Gimme twenty five, twenty-five, who'll take this pretty little desk for twenty-five?" I raise my hand "....going once, going twice, SOLD FOR TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS!" Woo Hoo! So check it out...

It was a good day....damn good!

  2. Loving the desk and the brown and white china-we've had the same chrome serving tray before, I think we've even blogged them in the past, they came in several sizes.

Sounds like a great buying day for you, we had a pretty good day at the flea market this morning and have already sold a lot of what we found, maybe I can catch up our blog tomorrow!

  4. I love every single thing you got, but the $25 desk makes me swoon. How incredibly lucky for you! I started going to auctions this year and I've found that furniture is about the only thing that (so far) doesn't sell for nearly as much as it's worth. So of course I either forget to bring my pickup or I have no one to help me unload the stuff I might've bought. Next time, though--HEY! NEIGHBOR! Great finds for you!!!!!

  12. Fabulous finds! I had so much fun checking out your blog. I have to admit, the Flamingo Glasses made me swoon.

Thanks for stopping by my Retro Weight Watchers blog. My collection is small but growing, and I am having a blast re-creating those gag-inducing recipes.

BTW--loved your tip re: the ambien & the mocktails. Filed that for later use. Can't believe I never thought of that myself!
