I found these cool chairs at Waste Management.
They are safari chairs...that much I know.
Has anyone seen similar chairs?
They were in a heap on the floor next to
the one chair that was put together.
The canvas is very heavy, good quality
but pretty stained.
This is the bottom of the chair.
The rest of the pieces were in boxes and bags.
The leather looks really old.
I found no markings other than
Shepard on the rubber foot.
I have found several online that
were designed by Kaare Klint.

I don't think I'm that lucky...
Maybe they are vintage Target?
Anyone have any idea?
I've found that identifying safari chairs can be a real challenge. I still haven't managed to identify the yellow ones we sold ages ago. At first they all looked the same to me, but then I started noticing differences in the straps on the arms or how the seats are attached to the frame. It gave me a headache, so I gave up. :) If I run across any that look like yours, I'll definitely let you know. What a find at Waste Management!!!
ReplyDeleteYou're unbelievable!
ReplyDeleteEven if they're not original safari chairs, they're beautiful!
To be a chair expert. That'd be the life!
Great score lady!
No ideas but what a cool find. Love for you to find out they are something rare and worth a lot!
ReplyDeleteI'm still green with envy over your Lamino chair! If these turn out to be designer safari chairs, I'm going to rub your head for luck! :)
ReplyDeleteNever seen a chair like that. Looks cool!
ReplyDeleteThose are something else! I really like the way they are somewhat industrial/military style but have some more refined styling too. Very neat! I have never heard of a Safari Chair, but now I'm going to keep my eyes open!
