Daily whine #1 in a long line of whines to come. My hair is straight, thin and lacks body. That is not my whine however. This is my whine.....whine #1. Every morning while using my curling iron, trying to make my hair look like something it is not and never will be, the cord to my curling iron gets hung up on the drawer knob. Not a big deal right? Well it shouldn't be except that I never realize that it's hung up and keep pulling on the cord and getting more and more annoyed until I realize what's happening and unhook it from the drawer knob. EVERY MORNING I relive this same scenario. Occasionally I yank so hard on the cord it unhooks with a jerk and I brand my forehead, cheek, neck, you name it, I've scorched it. Pavlov's dogs learned, why can't I? At this point I begin cursing curling irons and the fools that invented them then move on to the morons that decided hair should have curls and body. And let's not forget Twiggy who pushed Annette Funicello off magazine covers and made us all think that pencil thin was in....THANK YOU VERY MUCH TWIGGY!!!! So hair should be all curvy and full of body but our bodies should be STRAIGHT AS A BOARD??? HOW DOES ANY OF THIS MAKE SENSE??? Well, by this time, I've worked myself into a sweat and any semblance of a curl or wave in my hair has disappeared and I'm back to square one. So there you have it...Daily Whine #1. I always finish my morning rant with a little "Let's be grateful for what we have cheer". It could be worse. Much worse.

Okay, I'm throwing the curling iron away and I'm going to buy some good old self styling Adorn Spray and some Super Clips! Problem solved.
wow-great post! I'm really stunned to see how totally skinny Twiggy actually was, and in contrast to Annette she looks like an x-ray! Sorry about your hair issues--my solution to thin, fine hair was to cut it super short! It's great! :)
ReplyDeleteI was also shocked when I saw that picture of Twiggy. She looks like some of today's runway models. Way too thin. Annette looks just right in my book.
ReplyDeleteYou crack me up!! Me, I mostly just give up and twist my hair up and stick a stick in it - because it's easy! But I have kind of run the gamut a bit over the years - from a very short Twiggy-like do, to a perm, and in high school my sister sometimes helped me tie my hair up in fabric knots, which resulted in an almost Shirley-Temple-ish style! Any natural wave or curl in my hair has been weighted down now from the volume of it. The one style I never had was one like Annette's 50's hairdos, though. Like you, I hate messing with it so much that I guess that's why I ended up with just plain old long, and put it up to get it out of my "hair" most of the time! Heidi (from my sister's computer)
ReplyDeleteLast perm I had turned out looking like the great pyramid and I had to wait for a cab in downtown Seattle. Very embarrassing. The next day I went to a different salon and had it all cut off, very short. I loved it. That was before my neck went south? Can't do short anymore.
