Light Fixture Fetish

In the 2009 Winter issue of
Atomic Ranch Magazine
there is a photograph of the
outside entry of this house.
It has a light fixture just like
this one that's in the current
Rejuvenation catalog.
This is the fixture that I picked up a
while back (for a dollar) and I'm
designing our house around it.
I didn't plan to.
It just happened.
I've been fixated on it lately.
We have a great architect who is
waiting to draw the plans .

I just keep sketching, and erasing...
I NEED to find the perfect spot for the light.
Freida thinks its exhausting.
I'd have to agree.

  1. When you get that light fixture up, I want you to have that roaring fire and those two gorgeous kitties on the table, too!
I've got to see those house plans one of these days!

  2. The new house is going to be spectacular since your current house is pretty darn incredible as it is! The light fixture is very cool--I immediately thought it looked like a great big sperm, though, but of course it won't look like that when it's up. My mind goes in mysterious places these days . . .

  3. ARH..She is a sweet kitty.

Heidi..I love those wooden cats too and that fireplace, WOW!

Christine, you are so funny. What about the little designs on the side of the blog? Tell me what you see. We could have fun with this.

  4. Ha ha to Vintage Christine. Not sure if that's the look Madam was going for! :D

Are those YOUR 'sketches'? I'm impressed.

Oh how I long for a fireplace like the one in this post - sigh

  5. Yes they are my sketches but getting them to work in reality is more difficult than I thought.

And a big ME TOO on the fireplace. So many codes now make it difficult to have a "real" fireplace.

  7. The cat really looks like she is into the planning of this house. How cute!!
What fun to plan your house and look forward to using all the mid-century things in it.
Great lamp..... reminds me of one in our house many moons ago.

  8. MMMC, I can guarantee you the house will be completed by the time your little ones enter college! Maybe by then you'll be a wealthy lawyer and you can fly your whole family here for a look. Wouldn't that be fun?

Ms. Farmlady, you know what I'm in for don't you? You're being very kind not to let on. Just letting me have fun with my early planning stage bliss. Thanks for that.

  9. It's going to be so much fun to watch your house being designed and built. I think it would be so wonderful to plan one from the ground up...but I'm sure that sometimes the choices are mind boggling.
