Saturday was "Shop Local" day.
I did my duty.
We had lunch at a local eatery,
bought goodies at the local candy store,
and shopped at our new favorite
thrift store.
I found a pair of lovely chrysanthemum lamps.
I did some research on them
and I believe they are from the
Marbro Lamp Company.
If they are indeed Marbro lamps,
this will be my luckiest find to date.
Dana at Mid2Mod did a post on the
company. You can read it here.
Notice the Greek key design at the top.
And on the Marbro lamp (I spotted on
a google search), just below the lip.

The hand painted flowers are almost identical.
Also note the design at the bottom of the lamps.
Both lamps dotted with gold leaf.

The blue lamp is for sale here.
(for $2,250.)
I found mine for a whopping $15.00!
Shop local indeed!
*I found another pair at a website here

What a good buy these lamps were. I don't think that people know the value of some things.
ReplyDeleteGood for you!
I love your post format. The photos at the top are wonderful. Is this one of blogspot's new formats?
ReplyDeleteThanks farmlady! I used Picassa to create the collage of photos and uploaded it to my blog.
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful!!! I hope they are worth a mint!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe only a peppermint Lorlore, just like in your Santa book! I think I'll keep them and pretend I have a pair of $6500.00 lamps in my house.
ReplyDeleteOH MY! They're gorgeous. They certainly look like the Marbro. Go on. They're Marbro! What a find. Enjoy.
ReplyDeleteYour lamps are absolutely goregous!
ReplyDeleteI love that yellow and gold together. Very nice finds!!
Absolutely gorgeous! They have to be real Marbro. They just have to be!!! Wow...just wow.
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with your lamps, the design is so detailed and well crafted. They're definitely a lucky score if they're the real deal!

ReplyDeleteLove them! I am now inspired to run out to our local estate sale store and see what I can find...great purchase.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, people down here in MS thought "shop local" meant "shop at your local Walmart", so they did, just like they did the day before. Neither of the two antique malls I'm in had any increase in business on Saturday (although I did my part by buying something I totally didn't need at one of them). As for those lamps: WOWZA!!!!!
ReplyDeleteThose lamps are so pretty- what a great find!

ReplyDeleteYou did good, sister girl, now go find me the blue pair. I want them badly!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI bet if the blue ones are Mabro, yours must be too...and this excites me because I think I have your missing link between pattern & shape!
