I intended to write a snipey post about a local thrift store
that I have been boycotting lately because of their
ebay pricing and not so nice manager.
But I'm nice, so I changed my mind.
Besides, she let a few things slip by...
like this big guy that was 75 cents.
Oops, guess she didn't check ebay on him.
Ha ha!
This is William the Hippo. You can read about him here.
This is a replica from the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
I think he is very cool

This little light was in the free bucket outside.
It wasn't exactly free because I had to
endure a scolding from nasty manager about
bringing free items into the store.
Give me a break.....
it was stuffed inside my purse and she
never would have known if I hadn't told her.
I guess she didn't know it was teak
and it works!
Double Ha Ha!
Oops, I'm being snipey.
This 39 piece set I found at Salvation Army.
I don't know what they charge per item
but she charged me $2.00.
I like her.
I found this light fixture awhile ago.
I can't remember where.
Habitat for Humanity, I think.
I don't think I posted about it before.
This butterfly canvas chair was at
the store I was boycotting.
She charged me $6.00.
Triple ha ha!
It's worth more.
Maybe she's finally getting it.
It's a THRIFT store....
not an L.A. boutique.
There I go again.
Snipey.
Sorry.
So long.
WOW nice finds!! The hippo is so cute.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that cutlery
Know what?
ReplyDeleteHippo butt.
I'm glad you found your cool stuff at the stupid store.
Snipe all you want!
NOT a #$&%# boutique, for cryin' out loud!
Ha ha! That's all I have to say about that! Want to go garage saling tomorrow?
ReplyDeleteSale-ing?
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! I particularly love William...even his posterior. :)
ReplyDeleteI tried leaving a comment earlier today, and blogger refused to recognise me! The cheek!
ReplyDeleteStick it to the op shop world, sister!
I'm now going to do a post to follow-on from this one ... it'll feature William ... what a find! He's a bit Bitossi-ish.
Hippo Friday to YOU! Love the finds, esp the hippo and the lamp. Have been to a few of those thrift stores where people just don't
ReplyDelete'get' the whole, if you want to get ebay prices, go on ebay and good luck deal.
Awesome finds, all of them! That hippo is a charmer.
ReplyDeleteGreat finds! I can't believe your thrift store even HAS a free bin! That is pretty rare! I really like the lil' hippo and the set of silverware. I like your "THE END" statement too! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWilliam is adorable! Funny how they charge ebay prices on some items and not the others....
ReplyDeleteYou have a great eye! Very inspiring...I want to go thrifting now!!! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteciao
I just loved this (especially the hippo's rump to close things out!) It's hard not to get just a little snipey when people aren't nice and when *thrift* stores forget what thrift means. You got some great deals (in spite of the meanie manager)!
ReplyDeleteOh I like your snipes lol just found you thru the make mine mide century blog glad I did Love your finds and glad you got one or 2 or more up on that snooty manager. We have nice ones here but some vintage things are getting a tad high.
ReplyDeleteWilliam is gorgeous, and the perfect acccessory with your butterfly chair. Don't get me started on crazy prices in thrift stores around these parts; it will bring out the biddie and snipey in me.
ReplyDeleteOMGoodness!! An author made a children's book with this hippo as the inspiration back in the late 80's. It was one of my favorites, so Hubby and I keep our eye out for a blue hippo. ANY blue hippo. It's been over twenty years now. I just had to show him your hippo, just now. (Love laptops!) Anyways...we are SO thrilled for you!!! And a wee bit envious.
