He spent the weekend turning soil in the back forty.
He's like the energizer bunny!
We're not sure what to plant.
We thought about a community pumpkin patch.
Tomatoes are too temperamental so we'll
save those for the raised beds.
I'd like to try growing some gourds.
My sunflowers are coming up.
I like to sit and look at them.
Sometimes I think I can see them growing.
I'm a very impatient gardener.
I think these are radishes.
Our gazebo collapsed in the last storm.
The canvas top filled with snow and split wide open.
We decided to move it to the backyard
and give it a paint job.
The swing needed a facelift too.
I'm not so fond of hunter green anymore.
At one time, everything got hit with a can
of hunter green spray paint.
I've gone to the dark side now.
Everything is black.
The cover on the swing has got to go.
That's on the to do list.
We are going to cover the top of the gazebo with chicken wire
and grow vines over the top.
Maybe someday it will look like this.
I think it would look nice with little twinkie lights.

While the mister planted some carrots....
This guy stomped around outside the fence.
He's not happy about losing access to the plants.
They were eating everything in sight.
Big show-offs.
They thought if they looked really pretty they
might regain access.
Wrong! This is a no turkey zone.
We also replaced the front door and light fixture.
We plan to "fog" the door for privacy.
I hung a scarf in the window temporarily.
The paint is new too.
And that's that...
Beautiful. I love you, Jamie! I love "the mister" too.
ReplyDeleteYour sis,
Gin
Thanks Ginni! I love you and the mister too!
DeleteJamie, the gazebo is going to look wonderful with vines all over it. As much as I HATE to refrence "Walmart" they have some pretty nice outdoor cushions that would look great on your freshly painted swing!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny Mick...I just saw those cushions today. I like them. Lowe's has some nice cushions too. I think I might repaint the swing again in a dark red. I don't like the black so much.
DeleteGreat job - you guys have A LOT of energy!!
ReplyDeleteI'm barely hanging on Deb. My husband is the one with all the energy!
DeleteNice!
ReplyDeleteThanks Heidi. We'll have a sit someday soon. Miss you!
DeleteI love you. I love the mister. I'm confused. Is this the new house? Is this the old house? Are those wild turkeys? Are they son replacements? We call that green 'heritage green' and it was done to death down here as well. It generally went with a cream colour and a darkish red ... 'heritage' colours.
ReplyDeleteIs the garden on your plot of land? What's happening with the house plans? See how confused I am?
There is a lot of love going on around here! No, this is not the new house. We are still tweaking the plans for that and stock piling our pennies. We are currently living in the cottage that is on the same property as our senior home. I love the short commute to work...a walk across the garden and I'm there. The plot of land (the future pumpkin patch) is next to our senior home. Yes, those are wild turkeys that are angry with us for fencing them out and they are our nightly entertainment (and yes, our son replacement). We talk to our turkeys and they answer back....are we confused? I think so. Do you think all that baking and ironing brought on you state of confusion? Are your babies back yet? They are a sure fire way of grounding you.
DeleteGreat Gash!!! This place of yours is really shaping up to look like something out of Better Homes and Gardens! No wait ~ it's better than that! I can just see the pumpkins and carrots growing... along with some oh, say, gourds of course, pole beans, winter squash (my favorites are Delicata and Sweet Meat, oh and Butternuts too:), and why not some zucchini's too ~ you can do so much with those things!
ReplyDeleteHave fun, fun, fun in that garden and we'll be seeing you soon, hopefully!

Are you kidding me?? You have the most beautiful garden I've ever seen. I need you to come and give us some pointers...please! We have your bedroom waiting girlfriend. Come help me celebrate my 60th! We'll pretend it's my 40th.
DeleteI just popped by. My oh my, you people sure do work hard. I will be very impressed with what you plant in the back 40. Several rows of corn maybe. I love watching sunflowers grow. Just like watching little boys grow. FAST!
