There is a reason why I haven't been around lately.
We've been very busy.
I wish I could tell you we have started our new home build.
Not yet.
Before we start with the new build, there were a few things we needed to tend to
at our senior home. This project went on way too long.
Finally finished.
The metal posts will eventually be replaced with trees.
That's on our to-do list.
We also had to build miles and miles of fence.
I don't know why I say "we".
I should say "he".
He builds them,
I decorate them.
This one is not quite done.
The posts need to be lopped off.
These are the before/during pictures.
And here is the after, minus the gravel that will cover the dirt.
Are you wondering why some of the cross boards are white?
My husband is a picker. He uses whatever is around.
I like that about him.
He took this...
And made this....
For this.
My idea...not fancy but free.
A penny saved here, is a penny saved for the new home.
We decided to use wire fencing in back to make it feel more open
and to keep all the wild turkeys, deer and coyotes out.
Fireplace in place.
Climbing roses planted along fence to hide propane tank.
Raised beds in.
Lettuce coming up.
Twinkie lights up.
Plants from pots planted.
Compost pile growing.
Roses are blooming.
Trees are turning.
Still on the to-do list...
Replace ugly shade on shed.
Replace kitty door.
Clean out shed so we can hide ugly mowers inside.
Call the metal salvage guys to remove old dryer.
Paint house to match shed.
We're also working on the inside now.
And when everything on the to-do list is done...
we can start with the new build .
I'm tired.
Wow, you guys have been busy, busy! Everything looks great, but I'm sure you're exhausted.
ReplyDeleteYes we are Dana, but it was all worth it! I'm sure you can relate, the to-do list never ends.
DeleteGee - I had no idea all that was going on over there! Now the driveway and the fence, I suppose I did. That interior shot looks absolutely gorgeous, Jamie.
ReplyDeleteMy God, I need to simplify my life!
Maybe less really IS more.
Next week we should just hang out in the garden....give the thrift stores a break. What do you say? Will the weather cooperate? Yes, less is more.
DeleteOh my gosh. You guys have been busy. So glad to see what you've been doing. Hope that fence works to keep the wildlife under control. They love roses and you might find them lounging in the hot tub some cold winter night.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work. It looks wonderful.
Thanks FL! Those pesky turkeys can eat all the roses they want buy they will have to fight me for the hot tub! We have to draw the line somewhere, right?
Deletebut not buy!
