Progress Report

Aside from the door fronts that need another coat,
the kitchen area is finally nearing completion.
Removing the upper cabinets made all the difference.

The dining/living/lounging area is also coming together.

I've decided to leave the countertops alone.
Why create another project for myself?
I'll jazz up the counters with colorful what-nots.

I need to come up with a clever idea for
shades to hide the ugly wall sconces.
Any suggestions?

The room divider is so much nicer in white.
Everything is nicer in white...right?
Except the drawer pulls which got the black spray paint.
I like them.

The mister will enjoy doing dishes here.
He'll have such a nice view.

I'll keep him company from my perch in the dining room.

Now take a look at all the hideousness that once was.
(except for the man of course...he's a keeper.)
The rest just had to go.

  1. You're really moving right along all right! I think I'd just paint the wall sconces black like the pulls and call it a day. I actually think the black squares would look pretty cool with all the white.

    1. I actually started to spray them black and the darned nozzle on the can clogged. Maybe I'll buy another can and try again.

  2. What are wall sconces?

I can't believe that's a caravan. You have done such an amazing job. I hope you're chuffed, because you should be!

Can't wait to see more updates ... I know that'll take a while, but I'll sit here at the computer until then.

  3. Wall sconces are lights stuck to the wall. What is "chuffed"? Is that a good thing? Okay, well then, I am chuffed. I'll hurry up with more updates. I can't have you sitting at the computer all day. You've got little ones to contend with.

  4. Hello! What a small world, this internet! I followed a link to your blog from goretro.blogspot.com, as I'm interested in your trailer refurb. Poking around your posts, I began to see some rather "familiar sights". It just so happens my parents are building their dream home at the corner of Pine Grove-Volcano and Acqueduct Roads! Your 5th wheel is way cooler than theirs, tho! Best, Michelle

    1. Small world indeed! Are your folks living in the trailer while they build? I love that area, as you have probably noticed from my posts about Volcano. Thanks for stopping by.

Stay tuned for more on the trailer refurb. It's a work in progress.

  5. Very nice Jamie. I think you should find a really neat piece of 50s barkcloth, like the spacey looking kind that has black in it, and paint them black as you tried to, and use the barkcloth for a shade. Looking great. Tina

    1. Great idea Tina. I think I'll go buy another can of spray paint and try again. Love the barkcloth idea.

  6. The white is looking SOOO good - so crisp and fresh and new! And you know I'm a sucker for white . . .

  7. Thank you Tanya! It feels so different in there now. Amazing how a few gallons of paint can turn things around. We're going to tackle the bathroom and bedroom this weekend.

  8. Wow! Usually when I think of mid-century modern, *any* mobile dwelling is pretty much exempt!

    You've done an excellent job!

I really like those windows! Now I want to trade my house in for something mobile! (it would be so cool.. except for the storms we get out here..)

Have you considered putting up a contact form, there's something I'd like to ask, but don't really want to broadcast it to the world.
